Thank You for Supporting LeaderLuncheon

WE OFFER OUR GENUINE GRATITUDE FOR YOUR SUPPORT AT LEADERLUNCHEON YWCA Utah is still buzzing after our signature event just days ago! LeaderLuncheon created space for honest conversations, open hearts, and sincere gathering to uplift the organization’s impactful work, honor the Outstanding Achievement Award winners, and learn from keynote speaker and YWCA supporter Angela Davis, political activist and author with a deep commitment to social justice.  “I am partial to YWCA both personally and politically...My mother met my father while she was living at the Y, and I was the first born. So, I like to say, if it were not for the particular conjunction of events enabled by the existence of the YWCA, I would not be here today.” ~Angela Davis at LeaderLuncheon Her fascinating history shows that YWCAs across the country make a real difference in this world, inspiring equity and advocacy that can transform society. We are certain that our services and programs are truly lifesaving and life changing. Together, with the continued support of our community, we can reach more people with comprehensive family violence services, children’s programming, and race and gender equity work through leadership opportunities and public policy initiatives.     Another highlight of the event came from the heartfelt stories of our six award recipients. Each person moved the audience, sharing their background in respective categories of business and social innovation, racial equity and social justice, community building, health and wellness, and youth leadership. The special Heart and Soul Award was presented to a longstanding organizer, supporter, and activist whose legacy continues to shape our local community. Thank you to our keynote sponsor, the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation and underwriter sponsor, Zions Bank. Each business, organization, and individual who contributed to this event made it a true success. An enormous shout out to our Circle of Friends who were ready to match donations up to $100,000, and while the count continues, we know we will exceed our goal.   Did you enjoy your time at LeaderLuncheon? Share some of our favorite excerpts from Dr. Davis’ speech on social media, and tag @ywcautah for a chance to be featured on our story. “We need [revolutionary] change more than ever before. And we know that change involves taking a stand against racism as YWCA insists, and it involves eradicating gender violence, and it involves supporting reproductive justice.” ~Angela Davis at LeaderLuncheon “The YWCA has long understood the interconnection between white supremacy and male supremacy, between racism and misogyny, between eliminating racism and empowering women.” ~Angela Davis See You Next Year!
