YWCA Utah Recognizes October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month

YWCA Utah's Vice President of Domestic Violence & Residential Services, Mindy Maude, joined ABC4's Good Things Utah this week to talk about Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic Violence Awareness Month was launched nationwide in October 1987 as a way to connect and unite individuals and organizations working on domestic violence issues while raising awareness for those issues. Every year YWCA Utah observes Domestic Violence Awareness Month to recommit ourselves to empowering survivors and helping them build self-sufficient lives away from their abusers. This month YWCA Utah will be hosting our annual Domestic Violence Awareness Month Walk to raise awareness around the prevalence of domestic violence in our communities, and how we can support survivors in their journey of healing and re-building their lives. Join us on October 14th from 10:00am-12:00pm on the southeast corner of Liberty Park (1300s 700E) to stand in support of survivors, and the incredible work being done in our state around domestic violence.

In addition to our annual walk on October 14th, there will be two more community events hosted in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month:
