The power of “I AM”/” YO SOY”: Celebrate International Women’s Day Through Zine Workshop

Free to all Womxn, Femmes, and Non-Binary Persons of Color
Celebrate International Women’s Day by creating your own zine, a self-published pamphlet, or a magazine of your own design and creation with collaged images, personal illustration, artwork, poetry, storytelling, and/or pictures. Through this guided activity, community members are invited to create a zine breaking the stereotypes of who and what society, culture, traditions, and/or generational traumas have illustrated you to be. We will explore the theme of self-identity and reclaiming the power of “I Am” of your identity and voice in this safe and designated space for Womxn, Femmes, and Non-Binary POC to be expressive and creative. No previous art, writing, or zine experience is required to participate in this workshop.
Preparation & Materials:
- Set up your device in a private and comfortable location
- A sheet of copy paper 8×10 or larger for your zine base
- Craft and art materials such as scissors, pens, glue, stickers, markers, paint, etc.
- Old magazines and or books to cut images out of to collage with
