WHAT IS THE 21-DAY RACIAL EQUITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE CHALLENGE?
We are thrilled to offer our SLCC community the 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge again! This partnership between SLCC and YWCA Utah is designed to expand education and conversations about racial equity and social justice.
The Challenge presents twenty-one days of core concepts on race equity through articles, videos, and thought-provoking substantive research. Many of you participated in the inaugural 21-Day Racial Equity & Social Justice Challenge earlier this year and provided excellent feedback about its format and the value added to your own learning, understanding of racial issues, and overall professional development.
At SLCC, we see this challenge as one of many efforts to fulfill our vision, “Salt Lake Community College will be a model for inclusive and transformative education, strengthening the communities we serve through the success of our students.” By committing to this work, we become a more equitable institution where everyone feels welcome and respected. Equity, diversity, and inclusivity are directly tied to the integrity of the college. We hope to engage our entire community in the 21-Day Racial Equity and Social Justice Challenge to participate in meaningful conversations and personal reflection.
The Challenge is designed to create dedicated time and space to learn about racial equity and build more effective social justice habits. Following the 21-Day Challenge, we will host small-group facilitated conversations about the concepts. Our goal is that every member of our faculty and staff seeks to strengthen their understanding of and commitment to our values of inclusivity and learning.
We can’t wait to start this Challenge alongside you!
