(Re)Claiming Your Power, Your Voice

WITH Stacy Bernal (she/hers)

WEDNESDAY | February 2, 2022 | 6 PM-8 PM | VIA ZOOM
Free to all Womxn, Femmes, and Non-Binary Persons of Color

We are often told in subtle and not-so-subtle ways that we need to stay small and be quiet. And for many of us, that’s what we’ve done. Then a global pandemic comes along and disproportionately impacts and sets us back even more. But in the wake of the pandemic and the glaring social injustices of the last few years, it’s also created an opportunity for us to start claiming (or reclaiming) our rightful spots at the table where decisions are made. This workshop will empower attendees to examine their limiting beliefs and to ignite their inner fire to step into the power of their voice. Attendees will be challenged to think about their own spheres of influence and how they can serve as catalysts for positive change in ways that are meaningful to them.

Preparation & Supplies Needed for this Workshop:

  • Pen and notebook
  • Positive mentality and growth mindset
  • Optional (or following the discussion)- items to create a vision board

Allies/Accomplices Please be Advised:

We appreciate your solidarity and indeed, hope for your support. We ask that you respect that meetings and our outings (unless otherwise noted) are only open to women of color. For the time being, please increase your own understanding and participation in justice and equity work and consider supporting our group financially. No amount is too small and we truly appreciate your support.

LeaderLuncheon 2021–2022

And…we’re back! Thank you for postponing with us. We are hopeful that the Covid-19 climate will continue to improve and allow us to gather digitally and in person for LeaderLuncheon on May 20, 2022.

LeaderLuncheon is YWCA Utah’s signature event, garnering more than +1,000 attendees from companies, nonprofits, philanthropic organizations, and individuals in our community. Each year we honor five women in our community who have had immense impacts and success in their respective fields through the Outstanding Achievement Awards.

We are delighted to announce the return of our LeaderLuncheon keynote speaker Angela Davis, a political activist, academic, and author with a deep commitment to social justice. All proceeds from LeaderLuncheon support our life-saving and life-changing services for Utah women and their families including comprehensive family violence services, women’s leadership development, race equity work and initiatives, and public policy advocacy.

This year, we are excited to offer both in-person and virtual options for those who may not yet be comfortable gathering in-person or are unvaccinated.

In the event of future restrictions regarding COVD-19 and gatherings, all individuals will receive access to the hybrid version of the event. You may request to cancel your registration for this event with a full refund up to five (5) business days prior to the event unless otherwise specified. You may transfer your registration to another participant or request that YWCA Utah converts your registration fee to a tax-deductible donation any time prior to the event beginning. Registration fees are not able to be transferred or applied to a future event. Please contact the YWCA Utah Business Office at 801-537-8604 or with any questions regarding your registration or to request a refund.
