LeaderLuncheon is YWCA Utah’s signature annual event. This year, YWCA Utah will honor remarkable women with Outstanding Achievement Awards, and we are pleased to present Piper Kerman as keynote speaker. All proceeds from LeaderLuncheon support YWCA programs and services: creating safety and a hopeful future for vulnerable women and their families; encouraging young children to learn and grow; nurturing women’s leadership in all spheres of life; advocating for racial justice and civil rights; and offering a distinctive public policy voice on behalf of all Utah women and girls.
Individual ticket sales will begin July 1 for YWCA members, August 1 for the general public.

Best-selling author of the memoir of Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison and social justice advocate.
Her book has been adapted by Jenji Kohan into an Emmy Award-winning original series for Netflix. Piper collaborates with nonprofits, philanthropies, and other organizations working in the public interest. She serves on on the board of directors of the Women’s Prison Association and the advisory boards of InsideOUT Writers, Healing Broken Circles and JustLeadershipUSA. In 2014 she was awarded the Justice Trailblazer Award from John Jay College’s Center on Media, Crime & Justice and the Constitutional Commentary Award from The Constitution Project; the Equal Justice Initiative recognized Piper as a Champion of Justice in 2015.

Rappel down a high rise in Salt Lake City to raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault in our community and raise much-needed funds in support of the Salt Lake Area Family Justice Center at the YWCA.

The Salt Lake Area Family Justice Center is an innovative, collaborative model to help women and men in abusive relationships and those who have been sexually assaulted.
We offer comprehensive, caring services from fourteen partners in one accessible location. When people seek help at the Family Justice Center, they find trauma-informed, compassionate professionals who work with them to identify their needs, help them set personally meaningful goals for a path forward, and assist them in navigating criminal justice and other systems to obtain the resources they need to change their lives.
