What are the KRH Apartments?

The Kathleen Robison Huntsman (KRH) Apartments provide long-term, affordable housing for single-parent families who have experienced domestic violence, abuse, or other life crises. Built in 1998 through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, KRH offers a safe and stable living environment within a supportive, trauma-informed community.

  • Access to wrap-around supportive services and case management

  • Welcoming to residents with Section 8 and other rental subsidies

KRH is a vital part of the supportive housing system in Salt Lake City, offering families the opportunity to rebuild their lives in a safe, stable, and community-centered environment.

Who is eligible?

KRH is designed for single-parent families who meet the following:

  • Survivors of domestic violence or other forms of abuse (including emotional, psychological, physical, sexual, financial, spiritual, cultural, and technological abuse; human trafficking; child abuse; elder abuse; and abuse related to ability or identity)

  • Income restrictions apply

  • Experiencing housing instability or homelessness

  • Are open to participating in supportive services and agree to community agreements

  • Preferably using Section 8 vouchers or other rental subsidies

  • SUPPORTIVE SERVICES

    Case management and personalized goal planning in English and Spanish (translation services available for other languages)

    Domestic violence advocacy and safety planning

    Financial education and credit repair

    Resident advisory board, peer support groups, mobile medical clinics, family activities, and life skills training

    Referrals to legal, immigration, educational, employment, mental health, and healthcare services

  • CHILDREN & FAMILY SERVICES

    Drop-in child care services

    After-school programs, tutoring, and youth activities

    Parenting support and trauma-informed family interventions

    Access to the Lolie Eccles Early Education Center, subject to availability (onsite, for ages 6 weeks–5 years)

FAQs

Do I have to use a Section 8 voucher?

No, but we strongly encourage it. KRH accepts multiple types of rental subsidies.

How long can I stay?

Lease terms start at 12 months, renewable.

Are there background restrictions?

Yes, but not all convictions are disqualifying. Each case is reviewed individually.

Are men or families with male children allowed?

Yes. There is no restriction based on gender identification.

How much does it cost?

Pricing can vary and income restrictions apply.

Are pets allowed?

KRH allows service animals and Emotional Support Animals with documentation.
